Service Manager - Housing Development
About the Role
Epping Forest District Council aim to deliver affordable housing for all our residents across the area. The Service Manager of Housing Development will play a crucial role in achieving this goal.
As part of the management spine in the council’s housing service, you will manage a staff and resource budget of up to £500,000. You will lead the facilitation of increased affordable housing within the District by housing associations, developers and landowners and manage the delivery of the Housebuilding Programme.
However, this role does not only cover the council’s house stock. You will also work in partnership and negotiate with private sector developers to get the best outcomes for the council and its communities.
With a housing budget responsibility between £5-10 million, you will help procure value for money across the organisation, handling construction contracts while ensuring houses are built on time and on budget.
About You
Dealing with a range of complex housing projects, you will need to be a natural leader with a wealth of management expertise across large-scale projects. This could include any management or project management qualifications that you have attained.
While you do not necessarily need to come from the public sector, experience working on construction related projects is essential. You will also need to be able to form good working relationships with a range of stakeholders, members of the public and politicians in order to achieve results that benefit everyone.
